Social Pedagogy Development Network – hosting a mini-event

Hi, and thanks for your interest in hosting a mini-event at the 2024 SPDN! We’re delighted that you’re keen to find out further details below. If you’d like to host a mini-event, please complete this short Google form.

All mini-events will follow the same format, which we will co-design together with you and other convenors, so you’ll know exactly what to do and can bring in any ideas of your own if you want. To connect all different events with each other, we’ll provide an introductory input via Zoom, gather the outputs from each local event and share these at an online-only session shortly after the in-person event.

The SPDN mini-events will all happen at the same time October, 2024 (date TBC) in different locations. As a convenor, you will host between 10 and 20 people, some of whom might be from your organisation and some of whom you might not have met before. So it’s a great opportunity to make new connections, deepen existing relationships and thus increase your sphere of influence!

You’ll need to provide access to a meeting room or any other space that can comfortably accommodate this number of people. You’ll also need a few basic materials for the creative activities we’ve got in mind.

Because we want to provide the same introductory input across all locations and might touch base towards the end of the mini-event with everyone, it would be great if you have a laptop and projector / large screen.

We’ll leave any catering arrangements up to you, so you can decide if you want to provide teas and coffees, ask everyone to bring their own refreshments, or something to share or provide catering for a small contribution.

You’re most welcome to be involved in co-designing the programme for the mini-event. If you’re unable to do so, we’re happy to send you a facilitation pack with all the details and talk you through this ahead of the event.

One thing that’s critical for us is that we want the SPDN to be an inclusive space reflective of social pedagogical principles. We’ll rely on you to bring these principles to life and to take responsibility for ensuring that everybody feels welcome and able to engage with head, heart and hands.

The anticipated date is sometime in October, 2024, with all mini-events taking place across several locations on the same morning (10am-12.30pm). We’ll confirm the exact date soon!

All registrations will be made centrally via TicketTailor, so that these are accessible to anyone in the SPDN and beyond, and will remain free of charge. We’ll limit places according to your specifications and share details of your group of participants with you a week before the event.

Thanks for your support! If you’d like to host a mini-event, simply complete this Google Form, so that we’ve got all your details. We’ll be in touch with you directly to ensure you’re involved throughout the planning process. You’re also welcome to email us at spdn@thempra.org.uk with any questions.
